Reflecting in the Light of the Christmas Tree

It is a chilly afternoon north of Atlanta, Georgia, and the skies are filling with clouds.  A rainy week ahead of the Christmas holiday, but the packages are wrapped, and the house is filled with the soft sounds of piano music of the season.  A commission is on the easel, about 99% finished, and waiting to be varnished and delivered.  It is a time for quiet reflection.

My thanks go out to those I love, who show kindness to me in all the small ways that show they care.  I'm inside a home that belongs to me, warm and secure, with birds flitting to the feeders, and koi lazily swimming in the cold pond.  My little rescue dog is curled up beside me, a life saved from uncertainty and deprivation.  My thoughts go to the grandchildren, in their excitement and anticipation of Santa's visit.  We have good food, and are well provided for.

I have learned a lot this year, from the many blogs that have circulated in Fine Arts Views, from Jack and Luann and John.  I've stayed the course thanks to their help, and to others on the road of art with me.  The days ahead are uncertain ones, as I am anticipating an artistic upheaval that will require my best skills and preparation.  I am not faint of heart, though, and know that changes have typically led me to grow and mature in my art, and also lead to other shining moments.  I'm on the verge of a renaissance in my work, and I am preparing myself.

So, as I sit here, enjoying the multi-lights of the tree, the sparkling ornaments I have collected over the years, and the memories of many beautiful souls I have known, and I am thankful to be an artist, blessed beyond my deserves.  Life is, and will be, good.
